We are beginning our third year of an after school program called Kidz Zone. This program was started as an outreach to school age children and has been very successful.
Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00 p.m. Grades K-5 $16/weekly with a once yearly $20 registration fee Program offers games, outdoor activities, snacks, reading buddies, bible lessons, and more. Full-time supervised staff and transportation from Filer Elementary School provided.
"Commissioned to Grow" Building Project In early 2006 Filer First Baptist Church participated in a Capital Funds Campaign called "Commissioned to Grow". Our Goal was to raise $650,000. The total commitment at the end of the campaign in April was $679,208. One year later, as of April 30, 2007, the congregation had given $436,938.38, 67% of our goal. Our latest figure as of July 31st was $476,402.10, 73% of our goal. We have begun the building process. If you look to the North end of the church you will see the beginning of the construction work. All the work necessary to move dirt, dig holes and trenches and to put forms, steel and concrete in is well on its way. This stage of the project takes a little longer because everything has to be perfect. In the very near future you will see the dirt going in around all the foundation. This takes place so the electrician, plumber and heating and air conditioning people can get in and dig for whatever they need to put under the floor.
If everything goes as well as we anticipate, we should have the floor concrete done, and wood going together by the end of September or the first part of October. Once you see the building actually going up, the building process begins to move very quickly. You will see huge progress in a short amount of time. Then, once again, it slows down when the inside work begins, but we have faith that all will go as planned. Be sure and take a look at all the hard work going on outside and the progressive pictures on the bulletin board in the hallway, so you can keep up on this exciting project
